'Last Dance' short on originality

This time, it's Dead Woman Walking. "The Last Dance" was doomed from its release to be compared to that other death row movie -- "Dead Man Walking," in which the main actress garnered a Best Actress Academy Award.

'Mulholland Falls' plays like a predictable TV-movie

Television movies have a certain feel to them. Even in the best TV movies, there is never a sense of urgency or on-the-edge-of-your-seat suspense. What is going to happen and whodunit are always pretty apparent from the opening minutes. While most of them are not particularly horrible, TV movies do not exactly cause people to run out and tell their friends about them.

'Fargo' entertains as dark comedy about kidnapping

"Fargo" is definitely not a film for everybody. This off-beat dark comedy from the Coen brothers ("Blood Simple" and "Raising Arizona") is entertaining and very enjoyable, but only to those who appreciate their somewhat odd style and sense of humor. Joel Coen directed, his brother Ethan produced, and both collaborated in the writing. "Fargo" is the true story of a homespun kidnapping gone awry.
