Flashback: it's the end of Spring term, and I'm sitting outside of Collis "studying," "getting facetime," or "people-watching,"whatever you want to call it.
You've seen her running up that hill on West Wheelock St.: shorts swishing and iPod blaring. She's at the gym on the elliptical reading Us Weekly, checking the clock and looking in the mirror.
Last fall, my brother visited me at Dartmouth, and I still remember him following me into a dingy frat basement.
The tag read "Organic Cotton" in a scribled font, and had a little drawing of a leaf. Standing in Forever 21 browsing cheap T-shirts, I had to laugh at this attempt to be "green" at a store where $10 shoes reek of plastic (take my word for it; this smell never wears off) and lam is more ubiquitous than at American Apparel.
"This is a joke, right?" my friend said, as we held up a pair of bright green skinny jeans at a store in Toulouse.
