Students stage a protest in solidarity with Missouri and Yale, drawing both support and controversy

Chants of “We shall overcome” and “Black Lives Matter” echoed through the Green yesterday evening as more than 150 students, faculty, staff and community members dressed in black, walked from Novack Café to Dartmouth Hall in a demonstration of solidarity with the black communities at University of Missouri and Yale University and the larger Black Lives Matter movement.

CoFIRED will host immigration reform conference

United by a common interest in discussing and developing immigration reform, students from 20 different institutions representing all corners of the United States will arrive at Dartmouth today for the sixth annual Collegial Alliance for Immigration Reform Conference. The conference, organized by the non-partisan Coalition for Immigration Reform, Equality and DREAMers, will run from Nov. 6 to Nov. 8 and has a varied schedule of events, including lectures, workshops, presentations and discussions.

Increased number of alumni respond to survey, comment on "Moving Dartmouth Forward"

Dartmouth alumni sent more than 1,300 emails to the Alumni Liaison Committee expressing opinions and concerns on academics, student life and administrative initiatives at the College during the 2014-2015 academic year, according to the committee’s annual report to the Board of Trustees. The topics addressed in the greatest number of emails were the “Moving Dartmouth Forward” policy changes and the increased use of living learning communities, according to statistics in the report.

Conference explores role of humanities in MOOCs

Faculty from Dartmouth, Harvard University, Colgate University and the University of Pennsylvania convened at the College last Friday to share their experiences with teaching massive open online courses in the humanities and to discuss what it means to teach the humanities to a global audience.

College will send “Community Study” to assess campus climate

The first-ever Dartmouth Community Study — a comprehensive survey that will ask questions about learning, working and living at the College — will be released to faculty, students and staff on Tuesday through the Provost’s Office, vice provost for academic initiatives Denise Anthony said.
