‘Dawson City: Frozen Time’ at Loew Auditorium tonight

Tonight the Hopkins Center for the Arts will show “Dawson City: Frozen Time,” a documentary about a Canadian town in the Yukon region that became a hotspot during the Klondike Gold Rush. Additionally, Dawson City rose to fame within the film industry in 1978 when old prints and reels were discovered.

'Antigone in Ferguson': a classical reading starts conversation

What does a play written 2,500 years ago and a suburb of St. Louis have in common? The upcoming Theater of War production of “Antigone in Ferguson” at the Hopkins Center for the Arts draws parallels between the events of the ancient Greek play by Sophocles and those in Ferguson, Missouri surrounding the death of Michael Brown in 2014.

STEM Arts concert will feature instruments made by students

This afternoon, composer Molly Herron and the Tigue, an ensemble of three percussionists, will perform Herron’s composition, “Assembly” — on instruments that were invented under six months ago. This concert is the latest installment of the STEM Arts program, which focuses on the connections between art and science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
