Hop remodeling projects continue

|

As remodeling of some inner rooms finishes up and other spaces are considered for new development, the Hopkins Center has recently seen increased emphasis on providing accessibility and room for various arts programs. Some projects, such as the new Hop Garage spaces by the Courtyard Cafe, have already taken shape and are ready for student project proposals.

College hosts NAS symposium

Singer Horse Capture / The Dartmouth In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the College's Native American studies program, a panel of prominent scholars and Native American elders assembled to discuss collaborative research in studying Native cultures Wednesday evening. The two-day symposium was organized by Native American studies and anthropology professor Sergei Kan.

Thomas Bruce, Cornell University's vice president of communications, was named Dartmouth's senior vice president for public affairs, the College announced yesterday.

Shutdown has little effect at College

As Washington, D.C. screeched to a halt as a result of the first government shutdown in 17 years, Dartmouth's everyday activities are continuing largely unaffected. Possible impacted areas at the College include government-funded organizations and programs, though most, such as financial aid, will likely remain unaffected.


The security report stated increases in reports of forcible sex offenses and liquor violations.

College releases Clery report

Nook Harquail / The Dartmouth Senior Staff Reports of forcible sex offenses, liquor law violations and burglary at the College have substantially increased, according to the latest Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, released yesterday by Safety and Security. Reported forcible sex offenses increased to 24 in 2012 from 15 in 2011, while burglary reports increased to 16 from nine the year before.
