Means ’03 discusses work with Fey, Stewart

Since graduating from the College, Sam Means ’03 has won three Emmys for his work on “The Daily Show with John Stewart”and has written or produced for television comedies “30 Rock” and “Parks and Recreation.” He is currently a writer for the show “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which will premiere on Netflix on March 6.

Women’s hockey wins two on road

The women’s ice hockey team swept the competition this weekend, winning away games at both Colgate and Cornell Universities. With the back-to-back victories the Big Green (13-11-2, 9-9-2 ECAC) cemented its entry into the Eastern Coast Athletic Conference tournament.

After this weekend, which began with an exciting late-game 3-2 win over Cornell University and ended in a devastating 0-3 loss to Colgate University, not too high, not too low is what men’s ice hockey is counting on as the team nears the end of the regular season.

Men’s basketball snaps five-game losing streak

The men’s basketball team returned home to Leede Arena this past weekend for the first leg of a two-weekend Ivy League homestand. The Big Green (9-13, 2-6 Ivy) showed mixed results over the weekend, taking a heartbreaking loss in overtime to Cornell University (12-12, 4-4 Ivy) 81-72 before stifling Columbia University (11-11, 3-5 Ivy) in a 61-49 victory.

College will hire new sexual assault counselor

A new sexual assault counselor will join the College’s Counseling and Human Development clinical staff to be used as a “confidential” resource. Interested candidates will be screened and interviewed by a search committee, which will include both faculty and student input from diverse parts of campus.

The number of applications for FSPs, LSAs and exchange programs has increased from last year.

FSP application numbers rise

While off-campus programs cancelled certain programs recently — including a German language study program in Berlin and an Arabic language study abroad in Tangier, Morocco — due to a lack of committed interest, the College has also developed new programs for the upcoming year to meet student interest. These programs included a film foreign study program in Los Angeles that began in winter 2014 and an exchange term in Cuba that will start next fall.

Experts speak at panel about Ebola

The Dickey Center hosted an informational panel yesterday evening titled “Ebola in West Africa: Lessons from a Global Health Crisis,” featuring health workers involved in the Ebola crisis in West Africa. The panel, held in Filene Auditorium, highlighted the work being done by health officials to combat the disease, Dickey’s Global Health Initiative program manager Jessica Friedman said.
