Dartmouth cuts five sports teams and closes Hanover Country Club

Dartmouth announced this afternoon that it will eliminate the men’s and women’s golf, men’s lightweight rowing and men’s and women’s swimming and diving programs, effective immediately, in order to increase flexibility in admissions and ease its budget deficit. In addition, the Hanover Country Club will permanently close.

Ivy League cancels fall sports, no competition until 2021

The Ivy League announced this evening that all intercollegiate athletic activity will be canceled for the fall in response to growing concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic. The feasibility of moving fall sports to the spring, as well as plans for winter and spring sports, will be determined at a later date.

Local sororities amend constitutions to include non-binary people

Following uncertainty among Dartmouth sororites and the Inter-Sorority Council over the inclusion of non-binary and gender non-conforming people in their bylaws, members of local sororities Chi Delta, Kappa Delta Epsilon and Sigma Delta each voted at the end of spring term to change their house constitutions to explicitly include non-binary potential new members.

Dartmouth community members respond to weather vane removal

The weather vane depicting an image of a Native American, which formerly sat atop Baker-Berry Library, was removed last Friday in response to student and community concerns about its alleged offensive nature.

College updates policy to allow Class of 2024 to postpone enrollment one year

Dartmouth will allow students in the Class of 2024 to request a one-year postponement of their enrollment, dean of admissions and financial aid Lee Coffin wrote in an email to the Class of 2024 on Wednesday evening.

Some unenrolled students allowed to remain on campus during summer term

Though the College originally stated that only students enrolled in classes for summer term would be allowed to stay in on-campus housing after the spring term ended, some students have been allowed to remain due to extenuating circumstances. 

Nancy LaRocque named women’s rowing head coach
