It was an atypical evening in Leede Arena. As the visiting Harvard University Crimson traveled to Hanover, the press table was unusually stuffed with reporters from across the country. More pictures were taken, more questions were asked.

On March 5, 13 members of the men’s basketball team voted in favor of joining the Service Employees International Union, Local 560, with only two members voting against joining. The National Labor Relations Board supervised the election and announced the result in Dartmouth College’s Office of Human Resources Tuesday afternoon, located at 7 Lebanon Street, ahead of the Big Green’s matchup against Harvard University.

Now, only one contest remains. The Dartmouth Big Green men’s basketball team made their final weekend road trip, with contests at Yale University and Brown University on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

After a weekend when Dartmouth successfully secured home ice in the opening round of the ECAC playoffs, men’s ice hockey hosted Brown University on Friday and Yale University for Senior Night on Saturday to end regular season play. The Big Green finished victorious in both games, defeating Brown 5-3 and Yale 4-1 to snatch the last, first-round bye in the ECAC playoffs.

Allie Resnick ’25 and Emma Resnick ’26 are skiers for the Dartmouth Alpine team and Team USA. Both sisters have had illustrious professional careers: Emma Resnick placed fourth in the Giant Slalom race at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, while Allie Resnick has raced in the World Cup and was the 2022 North America Cup Slalom Overall Champion. Behind their medals and success is their support for each other and their unwavering positivity.

On Friday night in Leede Arena, the story was much the same as throughout the Dartmouth men’s basketball season. With 8:05 remaining in the first half, University of Pennsylvania’s lead was already 24-11. A revolving door starting lineup and poor shooting to open contests have led to a season-long tradition of starting games slowly for the Big Green. Coach David McLaughlin spoke on the struggles of finishing possessions throughout.

Former Big Green head football coach Buddy Teevens ’79 will be honored at a celebration of life held by Dartmouth and members of Teevens’s family on May 18. The celebration precedes the commemoration of the “Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field” by the Dartmouth Board of Trustees to take place in October 2024.

This weekend, men’s hockey hosted Eastern College Athletic Conference opponents Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University at Thompson Arena. The Big Green shut out the Golden Knights 3-0 and tied the Saints 4-4. The Big Green then won the six-round shoot-out against St. Lawrence to gain a point in the Ivy League standings.

Last weekend at Winter Carnival, the Big Green finished in second place overall, with a fifth place finish from Tatum Witter ’25 in the women’s Nordic race and top-five finishes from Cameron Wolfe ’23 and Cooper Camp ’26 in the men's event.

On Sunday, Feb. 11, Super Bowl LVIII crowned the Kansas City Chiefs as the champions of the 2023-24 NFL season. Besting the San Francisco 49ers 25–22 in overtime, the Chiefs summited the American Football pyramid for the second year in a row, and for the third time in the past 5 years. In recent memory, the Chiefs, led by superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, have been the team to beat. They have made the AFC Conference championship every year since 2018 and have made the Super Bowl in four of the past five years. Despite this precedent, the 49ers were the odds’ favorite going into the game.

Julianne Jones ’26 has etched her name into the swimming team’s history books. At the annual Tate Ramsden Invitational hosted by Dartmouth, Jones dominated, breaking two meet records in the 400 individual medley and the 200 breaststroke, which also set a pool record.
