Tinder, an iPhone dating application that is less than six months old, “anonymously finds out who likes you nearby, and connects you with them if you're also interested,” according to the app's description in Apple’s app Store.

With renovations being done on the cafe at the Collis Center for Student Involvement to improve its original outdated layout, students have mixed feelings on the new, temporary dining area that has taken over Collis 101 and Collis Common Ground.

“Academically, I expected that it would be hard, but it was definitely a challenge finding enough time to do all my work and not be so disorganized. Socially, it’s been awesome. There are so many people from different parts of the world and different lifestyles and experiences.” —Emily Kong

This term I am working with the non-governmental organization Awamaki in the small town of Ollantaytambo in Peru. Ollantaytambo, known as “Ollanta,” is about an hour-and-a-half drive outside of the city of Cusco, near Machu Picchu.

Crafting a major portion of your Dartmouth experience — choosing your own courses — is not always an intuitive task. The ideal schedule will challenge students to improve their intellect, while not constantly hosing them with unreasonable demands. It’s very easy to make a schedule that forces you to completely overextend yourself, but just as easy to feel underwhelmed by your classes.

I have no witty introduction for this installation of Stuff Dartmouth Kids Like, except to say that this week’s theme revolves around the fact that we Dartmouth students are very nostalgic and love to talk about things that once were, but are no longer. Just look at this column’s title. Everyone in the past was a better version of who we are now. They drank more beer and rallied faster. Anyway, let’s cut to the list.

My current obsessions:
The Pinch and a Kiss necklace embody three things: playful, simple, and my inner childhood. This adorable necklace reminds me of my childhood obsession with Peter Pan. Who am I kidding? I still love Peter Pan. It’s your perfect go-to necklace, especially when you wake up fifteen minutes before drill but you still want to look put-together. The necklace may seem like a bit of a splurge for being so simple, but Love. Nail. Tree products are high quality and almost all of them are unique. So be aware that it will be different from the actual picture when it arrives to your Hinman box.
This mini-mani set is at the top of my wish list. I am obsessed with this set! Aren’t those bows cute? This set has a great variety of colors, so you can use it all year round, making it a great investment for your nail polish collection. Your friends will also appreciate it when you bring it to your next bonding sesh.
Mint green has probably been my favorite color for the past three seasons. Designers have been using this color since the spring, and you probably will see it for the next few seasons, as well. This sweater will be a great addition for your color collection. And it will be perfect when you want to add a little bit of life to your outfit. Seriously. With this gloomy weather and terrifying finals period, I need to have a little bit of color.

Quick, take as many Instagrams as you can of those pretty fall leaves before the trees shed them all! Now in the same vein: quick, check out all the seasonal offerings at these Hanover restaurants before their menus change for the winter! Below is a listing of autumnal menu items being served up at some of our beloved in-town establishments in order of what you should nosh on first.

Butternut squash constitutes a huge fraction of my culinary repertoire — partially because I first learned to cook in the Sustainable Living Center, which prioritizes local foods, and few foods are local in the winter other than root vegetables and dairy. There are many delicious ways to prepare butternut squash — my usual is sliced into bite-sized chunks, and oven-roasted with potatoes and beets in olive oil and rosemary. Butternut squash can also be pureed into soup, but I don’t have a blender.

Two summers ago, I tasted for the first time what would become my favorite sweet and savory combo since peanut butter and strawberry jelly: balsamic vinegar and peaches. It was a hot summer day in Hanover, and my housemates and I had finally decided to use the grill that we had — um — borrowed from a certain academic department. It was pretty simple: we sliced up some peaches, tossed them in balsamic vinegar and threw them on the grill. The peaches were messy, and the balsamic vinegar got all over our clothes, but the taste was pure bliss. I have not had the opportunity to grill peaches since that day, but I have developed what I think is the best way to recreate this delicious duo in DDS: Peach-Balsamic Salsa.

The Dartmouth Co-op at 21 South Main Street was founded in 1919, maintaining a long-standing tradition with the Dartmouth community from students to alumni alike as a vendor of Dartmouth gear. However, the store is not officially affiliated with the College. Though all Dartmouth merchandise is officially licensed by Office of General Counsel of Dartmouth, the Dartmouth Co-op has always been privately owned by Dartmouth alumni, from John Piane, Class of 1914, to its current owner, Gene Kohn ’60.

This weekend, my apartment was more overrun than usual with New Orleanians — I’ve never been to New Orleans, so I asked them to show me brunch NOLA-style.

Don’t use a sketchy website! Try to use Hostels.com or HostelWorld.com. Both sites are pretty reliable when it comes to finding a hostel.
