Chews Wisely: Four Aces Diner
Once we were seated, we scoured the specials menu, where I was delighted to find the Canadian delicacy poutine listed under “Something to Share.” Soon enough, the three of us were shoveling fries topped with gravy and cheese curds into our mouths, loving every minute of it.
For my main course, I opted for “The Joker”— two pancakes, one sausage patty, two pieces of bacon, two eggs and home fries—plus a side of whole wheat toast, because health. Before even tasting it, I was confident it would meet my expectations. The plate was massive, and it arrived in front of me less than ten minutes after I had ordered.
Once I tasted it, any remaining doubt left my mind. The pancakes were some of the best I’d ever tasted, and topped with real maple syrup. The bacon was crisp and free of excess fat, and my over-easy eggs were cooked to perfection. If I had to pick a low, it would be the sausage patty. I’m more of a link man myself, and I suppose it is relatively difficult to make a life-changing sausage patty.
To be a bit cliché for a minute: This diner may be called Four Aces, but I give it five stars.
5 out of 5 stars.
