Charli XCX feat. Rita Ora — Doing It (A.G. Cook Remix)
Koryn Ternes: With Pigstick and Derby coming up this weekend, it’s time to start updating that pregame playlist. I suggest adding a little diversity to your top 40 with this remix of Charli XCX’s “Doing It.” While I am a huge of fan of the original version of the song, A.G. Cook adds his own spin on the track, twisting the vocals and taking off some of the punk edge, transforming it into more of a pop song. While it maintains the same attitude as the original version, Cook’s remix makes it the perfect song to get you weekend ready.

The Killers — Mr. Brightside
Samantha Webster: While it was quite tempting to choose a song like Carly Rae Jepsen's new "I Really Like You" or Jason Derulo's"Want to Want Me," which may at first seem more suitable to this weekend of parties, my heart belongs to alt rock."Mr. Brightside" is undoubtedly my favorite basement song because of its unmatched ability to make an entire room of people start singing together and slapping their hands against the ceiling. There's something about everyone screaming, "It was only a kiss" at the top of their lungs that says "we'reyounganddumb and ready to party." If you haven't listened to this song since it came out in 2004, I don't blame you because that was 11 years ago, but seriously golisten to it now.

Dude York — Believer
Maya Poddar: “Believer” by Dude York may not be a traditional party song. There is no thumping bass line, no synth overlay. The charm of this song is in its calculated roughness. This isn’t a basement song. Ideally, you’d be listening to this song in a small venue with overpriced beer in hand and a bearded crowd around you. It’s the perfect song to put you in the mood for pig meat and a possibility of rain.
