Forty years ago this Thursday, The Dartmouth’s opinion page featured the following column from David MacDonald. According to David, who worked at the Baker Circulation Desk, students would frequently come to his desk and complain that the Xerox machine had stopped working.
Little did David know that long after his undergraduate years were over, students would still be complaining about failing facilities — this weekend included. Despite the new GreenPrint stations across campus,David’s observation still rings true: in the war between man and the copying machines, the machines are winning.
