Today, the Hanover Police Department declared the death of Won Jang ’26 an accidental drowning, according to WMUR. On July 7, Jang’s body was recovered from the Connecticut River after he was reported missing earlier that day.

The New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner found that Jang’s blood alcohol level was 0.167, more than double the legal level to drive, WMUR also reported.

Jang was reported missing following a social gathering near the Connecticut on July 6. Earlier that evening, he had attended a social gathering with his fraternity, Beta Alpha Omega, and Alpha Phi sorority. Two days after Jang’s death, the College suspended both Greek organizations.

In July, the Hanover police department said they were investigating potential hazing after receiving an anonymous tip. The investigation remains ongoing, police told WMUR.
