Aires to perform on NBC's 'The Sing Off'

The Dartmouth Aires will appear on the third season of NBC's "The Sing-Off," a televised singing competition that features a cappella groups from across the country, Paul Telegdy, executive vice president of alternative programming for NBC and Universal Media Studios announced on Tuesday. The season will premiere on Sept. 19 on NBC, according to an NBC press release.

Two-hour episodes will air on each Monday in the fall, and the Aires will compete for a $200,000 cash prize and a Sony Music recording contract, according to the release.

Recording artists Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men will judge the season three competitors, according to the release.

The 15 members of the Aires will appear alongside 15 other a cappella groups, including Howard University's Afro-Blue, the University of Rochester's YellowJackets and the University of Delaware's Deltones.

Founded in 1946, the Aires is Dartmouth's oldest a cappella group. The group released its latest album, "Fresh Aire," in June.
