The wins propel Dartmouth (4-2-0, 4-1-0 ECAC Hockey) to a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Princeton and Harvard. St. Lawrence (4-3-1, 1-1-1 ECAC Hockey) is in eighth place, and Clarkson (2-8-1, 1-4-0 ECAC Hockey) is now tied for 10th place with Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
"It's huge for us right now since we were really counted out early in the season," captain Rob Pritchard '09 said after Saturday's game. "We're making a statement right now that we are the team to beat."
On Friday, Dartmouth defeated St. Lawrence thanks to a overtime strike from Adam Estoclet '11 four minutes into the extra period. The assists went to Andrew Owsiak '11 and Doug Jones '12, who found Estoclet in front of the net for the goal.
"Owsiak had a great pass to Jones," Estoclet said after Friday's game. "It was an easy tap in on an empty net."
Estoclet now leads the team in scoring on the season with three goals and six assists.
The goal secured the win, after the Big Green started out strong with a 2-0 lead but then allowed St. Lawrence back into the game.
Joe Stejskal '11 scored the Big Green's first goal of the game during a two-man advantage for Dartmouth. Stejskal drilled the puck into the net off a rebound with just under seven minutes remaining in the first period.
Evan Stephens '11 scored Dartmouth's second goal from the center of the ice just over six minutes into the second period of play. The assist came from Scott Fleming '11 during a four-on-three Dartmouth advantage.
St. Lawrence responded with two goals in the second period to tie up the game 2-2. The Saints' second goal came with less than a minute left in the period after a St. Lawrence shot hit a Dartmouth skater and careened past Big Green goalie Jody O'Neill '12.
But a Dartmouth goal from Connor Shields '09 with just over six minutes left in the third period gave Dartmouth a one-goal lead going into the last few minutes of the game. Shields managed to redirect the puck on a tip after a shot from the point by Stephens.
St. Lawrence managed to even the score in the final minutes to force an overtime after the Saints' Aaron Bogosian slipped the puck past O'Neill.
"We bent, but we didn't break," Dartmouth head coach Bob Gaudet said after Friday's game. "It's a pretty resilient group and it was a classic way to end the game."
Dartmouth did not suffer a letdown against Clarkson on Saturday. The Big Green connected for five goals against the Golden Knights, a team that finished first in the conference last year.
Clarkson's Jake Morley scored the first goal of the match 11 minutes into the first period of play. But after that, it was all Dartmouth for the rest of the night.
Dartmouth tied it up with a goal by Stejskal with just over 58 seconds remaining in the first period after a pass from Jones during a power-play opportunity.
Defenseman Stejskal has taken on a larger role this season in Dartmouth's offense -- Stejskal has six goals on the season after notching only one during all of the 2007-08 season.
About 40 seconds later, Matt Reber '11 scored the go-ahead goal for the Big Green. Reber found himself on a breakaway during a Dartmouth penalty kill and beat Golden Knights goalie Tim Potter. Potter was later pulled from the game after giving up the fourth Big Green goal to Connor Goggin '12 midway through the second period. The goal was Goggin's first collegiate tally.
"Any time you chase a goalie out of the opposing team's net, it's huge," Pritchard said after the game Saturday. "It's just a sign that we're executing the offensive zone and it's a confidence booster."
After second period goals from Estoclet and Goggin, Shields scored the fifth goal for the Big Green in the final minutes of the third period to finish off Clarkson and put Dartmouth up 5-1. He was assisted by Troy Mattila '12 and Josh Gillam '10.
O'Neill made 37 saves against Clarkson and 42 saves against St. Lawrence, bringing his save percentage to .939 on the season. After trying out different goalies during the preseason, Gaudet said O'Neill will continue to play in the upcoming games.
"I like our other goalies, but sometimes you just want to keep riding it out when someone is hot," Gaudet said after the game Friday. "He makes saves look easy that are really difficult."
The Big Green looks to continue its winning streak on the road next weekend, with games against conference opponents Colgate University and Cornell.
