Hanover Police was called after a 20-year old female Dartmouth student reported a suspicious man driving around campus. The student reported having seen the man repeatedly drive by her and noticed that he appeared to be fondling himself. The 53-year old man was stopped by Hanover Police and arrested for indecent exposure and lewdness.
July 15, 10:02 a.m., Maple Street
Hanover police arrested a 28-year old man for vandalism after he broke the front window of the Foodstop in Hanover. It was later found that the same man, who has been arrested twice before by Hanover and Lebanon police, had an outstanding warrant for defaulting on his bail agreement. The suspect is believed by police to be homeless.
July 18 12:46 a.m., Etna Road
Hanover police responded to a call from a mother saying that she believed her son to be at an illegal house party. Arriving at the scene, police found the house essentially abandoned but were able to locate and arrest the 16-year old son and an acquaintance, both of whom were intoxicated. Police expect to bring further charges against the teenager who threw the party.
July 22, 2:41 a.m., East Wheelock Street
While conducting a routine late-night patrol, Hanover Police stopped two men who were screaming at each other. Upon further investigation, it was found that one of the men, a college sophomore and underage at the time of the incident, was intoxicated. He was arrested for unlawful possession and intoxication, while the man he was with, a 37-year old Hanover resident, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Police believe the men were arguing about politics.
July 22, 11:22 p.m., West Wheelock Street
After stopping a car due to a defective tail light, officers determined that the driver, a 16-year old male, had been driving under the influence of alcohol. After arresting the driver, police obtained a search warrant for the car and discovered drug paraphernalia and a small mason jar containing marijuana. Possession of controlled substances and driving while intoxicated both qualify the driver to be prosecuted as an adult.
July 25, 4:10 a.m., Olde Nugget Alley
A Hanover Police officer on foot patrol spotted a man standing on a roof, who appeared to be peering into a window. The man, who was looking into the window of an 18-year old Dartmouth student, was arrested and charged with peeping and violation of privacy.
