Watching "Peter Pan" as a little kid, it was hard to imagine why Peter never wanted to grow up. Our eyes looked forward - to driver's licenses, to proms and to the pinnacle of all that was grown up: college.
Now that we have reached that pinnacle, we still look forward to the next term, the next few years -- the future. Yet every once in awhile, we need to step back and appreciate the present. Winter Carnival reminds us to cherish our inner child. So take this time and enjoy it. Have a snowball fight, drink hot chocolate, jump into Occom Pond. Pretend you are a pirate, and slide down the ship, setting sail in the middle of the Green.
Maybe we'll have to think about "the real world" next week, but for right now, let's revel in this snowy celebration. Let it freeze not only the ground, but time as well, because like Peter said, we don't ever want to grow up.
