To the editor:
I'm pleased to see that the proposed new alcohol policy takes advantage of Dartmouth's status as a private institution in ignoring the spirit of the pesky First Amendment freedom of peaceable assembly. Obviously, the way to govern a country is no way to operate a liberal college community. Perhaps campus buildings could require an electronic ID for access and the process could be centrally monitored for unusual traffic at a location. That way the dean and Safety and Security can nip any unauthorized socializing in the bud. We are on our way to a better world.
