To The Editor:
First let me thank you for writing such a wonderful article welcoming Dawn Hemphill to the campus in your August 2 edition. However, I do feel it necessary to clarify some information. Deimosa Webber-Bey served as an interim programming coordinator in the Student Life area focussing on several diversity programs over the past year. The academic and personal advising and mentoring portions of the job that Hemphill currently holds have been very capably accomplished by Dean Sylvia Langford not just for the past two years, but for the past ten. I know that our African American students have appreciated all of her efforts on their behalf and would want her work to be duly acknowledged. Dean Langford will be working with Hemphill to ensure a smooth transition and I am very excited that our students will have an additional source of support on campus.
