The members of the Class of 2000 Senior Executive Committee -- a group of 20 seniors responsible for class activities for the next five years -- were announced last Friday, following elections on Thursday.
All 34 students on the ballot were also asked to submit application for review by a selection committee. The 12 students with the most votes were appointed to the executive committee, while the other eight were chosen by a College selection committee.
The executive committee's members include Emily Anadu, Lisa Bianchi, Ben Berk, Kelly Bodio, Eric Buchman, Olivia Carpenter, Shannon Danzy, Christen Einsiedler, Kelly Heaps, Julie Kachniasz, Bruce Kennedy, Annie Kneedler, Sadiq Ahsan Malik, Domingo Martinez, Daudeline Meme, Matthew K. Nelson, Janelle Ruley, Lauren Scopaz, Andrew Thompson and Rebecca Udler.
The Senior Executive Committee is responsible for organizing Class Day before graduation and all class events after graduation, including mini-reunions, the class newsletter, contributions to the Alumni Magazine and maintenance of the class webpage. The group will also plan the class' fifth year reunion in 2005.
Members of the committee interviewed by The Dartmouth were excited at the prospect of serving on it.
Emily Anadu '00, who has served as the Programming Board co-chair, a cluster Area Coordinator and a member of the Committee on Standards was pleased at being appointed to the executive committee.
"I like Dartmouth a lot," Anadu said. "This is a way to stay involved after I leave."
Most of the students appointed to the executive committee have been highly involved in campus activities throughout their college career and see serving on the committee as way to stay in touch with the Dartmouth.
"I've always been involved with Dartmouth," Kelly Heaps '00 said, adding that her appointment on the executive committee will enable her to give something back to the college.
Heaps said she was very excited at her appointment, which is a great way to keep in touch with her class and friends.
The Senior Executive Committee will hold its first meeting today.
