Task Force pleased with response

The Student Response Task Force is extremely pleased with the level and quality of student response to the steering committee report, Mary Liscinsky, special assistant to the Dean of the College, said yesterday.

The Task Force -- that accepted responses in a variety of ways including fireside chats, a BlitzMail account, a website address and opinion boards -- received formal proposals from 22 organizations and input from a wide variety of students.

"The responses were very thoughtful," Liscinksy said. "Most people responded to all areas of the report ... students are concerned with the overall community."

Although she said it is difficult to estimate the total number of students who responded throughout the term, approximately 600 students participated in the discussions on the night of the steering committee report release -- an indication of the high level of student input.

With the response phase of their assignment now complete, the Task Force has shifted gears. The committee has begun compiling student response in a report to present to the Board of Trustees and plans to have a draft report ready by March 7.

"We have a lot of writing to do in the next week," Liscinsky said.
