To the Editor:
DDS has made a good decision in allowing for a student referendum on their policy for next year. However, they are limiting themselves by only offering three options: maintenance of roughly current levels of service, sizable cutbacks, or complete removal of DDS.
There is another quite viable alternative which can be turned to the advantages of both students and DDS employees. Many colleges lease space out to private firms who are quite willing to pay for prime space and the convenience of charging on student ID's.
Any restaurant chain would be thrilled for a location like Collis or Thayer. Not only would they pay the College for the space, but it seems reasonable to assume that a lease contract could be negotiated to retain the present DDS employees.
