Run D.M.C., Dave Matthews to hit the stage: Programming Board will bring Matthews to campus for the second time in 13 months

Students should prepare to spend a little more of their parents' money today at registration because the Programming Board will be selling tickets for two major concerts coming this term: Run D.M.C. and Dave Matthews.

Dave Matthews is on tour with guitarist Tim Reynolds. The two will perform an acoustic duet in Leede Arena on Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. The tickets will cost Dartmouth students $17 and $20 for the members of the general public.

Next month will mark Matthews' second visit to Dartmouth in about 13 months. The South African expatriate with his band performed last January 27 with Big Head Todd to a sold-out audience in Leede.

Run D.M.C. of "Walk This Way" fame, a recently resurrected rap group from the 1980s, will perform in Webster Hall on Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. Tickets will cost $7 for students, $10 for non-students.

Members of the Programming Board will sell tickets for both concerts only to students during registration today. The Programming Board will then suspend ticket sales until Friday, when they will be on sale for the general public.

Barrett Shaver '98, a member of the Programming Board, said Matthews will perform without the rest of his band, the Dave Matthews Band. Reynolds has contributed to most of Matthews's albums, Shaver added.

Shaver said the duo will tour about ten colleges in the New England region. The show is for a sit-down audience.

Matthew's most recent album, produced with his band, is "Under the Table and Dreaming" and a new album is expected to come out in April or May, Shaver said.
