Trustees will meet at N.H. weekend retreat

The College's Board of Trustees will holdits annual summer retreat in the Minary Conference Center on Squam Lake near central New Hampshire this weekend to reflect on the coming year.

"The retreat is a time for the Trustees to have reflective discussions in a tranquil setting," Trustee Secretary Reynolds said. "They also spend time planning for the 1995-96 Board meetings."

Although the Board's discussion is usually confidential, in past years such conferences have been used for long-term conceptual planning.

"Several discussion sessions are held throughout the weekend and generally last about twohours each," Reynolds wrote in an electronic-mail message.

"No formal action is taken by the Trustees during these sessions," she added.

"The Trustees and their spouses will be attending the retreat this year ," Reynolds said.

All of the Trustees, including College President James Freedman, will attend the conference except for perennial absentee New Hampshire Governor Stephen Merrill.

There are 16 trustees total. Besides Freedman and Merrill, the College alumni elect seven, and the other seven are appointed by the board.
