At approximately 2 p.m. yesterday, an unidentified freshman woman crashed into a pole while bicycling down College Street near DartmouthHall, according to College spokesman Alex Huppe.
Andy Smith '98, who said he was walking with the woman when the accident happened, said the woman had been on her way out of class when she lost control of her bike.
Huppe said the woman hit her head on a lamppost as she fell from her bike and was taken by ambulance to Dick's House. She suffered lacerations, was treated at Dick's House and released later in the day Huppe said.
"She was going along and I heard a 'ping' and she ran into the pole and hit the ground," Smith said.
"It was kind of funny because there was a guy across the Green at Robinson Hall who came running all the way across the Green because he heard it too," Smith said. "Those poles are pretty solid."
According to Smith, the woman suffered no serious injuries."She got a few stitches and that was it. She was more embarrassed than anything else," he said
The woman, who Smith declined to name, involved could not be reached for comment.
