Saunders retains Class of 1997 presidency

Class of 1997 PresidentPamela Saunders easily defeated challenger Steven Wolkoff '97 yesterday in the only contested class council race, while Brendan Doherty '96 and Randi Barnes '98 were both re-elected unopposed to the presidencies of their respective classes.

College students also elected 24 at-large representatives to the Student Assembly and three students to the Committee on Standards. Unsuccessful Assembly presidential candidates Brandon del Pozo '96 and Phil Ferrera '96 both won seats on the general Assembly. John Honovich '97, this year's Assembly vice president also won an at-large seat.

Other students who won at-large seats to the general Assembly include Chinwe Ajene '98, Tiffany Battle '98, Della Bennett '96, LauraBennett '96, Shakari Cameron '96, Grace Chionuma '96, Sean Donahue '96, Meredith Epstein '97, Thomas Franks '98, Ben Hill '98, James Horowitz '98, Sarah Johnston '97, William Kartalopoulos '97, Sarah LeSure '97, Unai Montes-Irueste '98, Nina Nho '97, Ku'ulei Reyes '98, Anna Ochoa '97, Nehomah Thundercloud '97 and Tim Young '96.

Kelii Opulauoho '96, the Assembly vice president-elect, also won a seat in the general Assembly. Opulauoho is expected to resign his seat in order to assume the vice presidency.

Students selected 13 members of the Ferrera-Opulauoho "United Vision" slate of candidates. The slate recommended 24 candidates for students to elect.

Doherty and Class of 1996 Vice President Thomas Caputo were both re-elected unopposed to their positions.

Class of 1997 Vice President Matthew Shafer also was re-elected unopposed.

Barnes was also returned to her seat, which was uncontested.

Chris Atwood unseated Tom Franks as Class of 1998 vice president in a hotly contested race. Atwood won by two votes over Christine Du Rocher, Franks and John Yalcin.

Kartalopoulos, Jennifer Pollina '97 and Bill Tovell '96 each won seats on the Committee on Standards for the 1995-96 school year.

Nho, Rob Rogers '97 and Rebecca Siegel '97 were elected as alternates to the Committee on Standards.

Students elected to the Green Key Honor Society, the College's junior honor society, included: Carolyn Abruzzo, Theresa Ellis, Christina Dugan, Adam Grant, Mollie Greeves, Jennifer Guy, Gisela Insuaste, Patty Jen, Sam Keating, Abby Klingbeil, Carlyn Lettan, Judy Meadows, Robyn Murgio, Jennifer Pollina, Rob Rogers, David Rubatelli, Sariya Sharp, Inger Strand, Steve Wolkoff and David Zipkin.
