To the Editor:
I will not debate the Trustee statement with Brandon del Pozo '96, which I have already described as a huge insult. However, I take exception to his smarmy and self-satisfied editorial in The Dartmouth ("What Now for Gays and ROTC?," April 18). I am sure that if you put your trust in someone to do the right thing and they reached out and kicked you in the groin your response would be pretty reflexive and your pain would be from the heart. How dare del Pozo suggest that we are angry merely because it is what is expected of us!
We are angry because we have been sold down the river for the sake of old money. We did not ask the Trustees to reach out and touch the Pentagon with their decision. We asked them to take a moral stand here. Don't tell us what we have to do now to normalize relations with the rest of the College. We are the ones who have been betrayed.
Don't give us suggestions on "things to do" as though we have never been doing them, despite immense apathy from the rest of the College. Please keep your pseudo-sensitive-het suggestions to yourself for at least some decent period of time. We have a right to be angry.
