Topside games to Collis

The area outside the Topside Convenience Store in Thayer Dining Hall will remain vacant this term after the relocation of video games and pinball machines to the new Collis Center.

"For now it will just be quiet space," Associate Director of Dining Services Tucker Rossiter said.

Plans to convert the area into office space for the Validine Office have been proposed, Rossiter said.

"We might expand the store, but I really think it will be converted into additional offices," Rossiter said. "Any construction that would be done will not happen until the Summer term."

The video games and pinball machines were formerly housed in Collis, but they were moved and taken over by Dining Services several years ago due to overcrowding.

"We always knew they would eventually return to Collis. It makes sense," Rossiter said.

The new Collis arcade is located next to the billiards room in what is called the Dartmouth Underground.

The Office of Student Activities will now receive the revenue from the machines.

New Validine vending machines have also been ordered for the Collis Center and are expected to arrive in the next two weeks, Rossiter said.
