To the Editor:
Having served as a student member on the Campus Center Building Committee since 1991, I feel that the Dartmouth Community may have set standards and expectations for Collis higher than any building could ever live up to. With a limited budget and space, the Committee has done an excellent job providing the Community with what it requested and with a building that can adapt to the needs of future classes.
The Collis Center was not constructed to replace the Greek System. It was built to enhance the quality of life at the College by providing a "common ground" for students and organizations, Greeks and non-Greeks alike, to use as they deem worthy. The building will only meet our high expectations if we take advantage of it and incorporate it into our community, just like we were included as freshmen. We must remember that it takes time for a new place to feel like home.
