New Magazine Lacks Support

To the Editor:

In your edition last Wednesday, you printed an article about the "magazine" entitled "Inner Bitch" (New rag targets men, frats," The Dartmouth, Jan. 5, 1993). The jump subheadline on the second page stated "some students respond with disgust, others with acceptance and accord." I am writing to point out that you failed to find any readers who reacted with acceptance and accord. The two people who said positive things about the publication were its editor, who obviously would support its content, and a male who was also a contributor and was featured in the magazine as a model posing as a "frat boy." The only two students not affilliated with the publication who were quoted in the article both expressed their distaste for the kind of purely emotional, intellectually infantile tripe that this publication represents. I hope that this was an accidental misstatement in the headline and does not represent an attempt on the part of The D to promote this publication by suggesting that it has a support which does not exist. As to the content of the journal, I could go into a lengthy description of its poverty of inspiration, but I stick to my statement that angry mindless propaganda of the nature of this magazine's does not merit an intellectual response and should not be dignified with a debate.
