Saturday afternoon, 109 people participated in the third annual Peter A. McKernan Memorial Biathlon, a race made up of a three-mile run on Rip Road and an eight-mile bike race on the Etna loop.
Participants joined the event, a tribute to Peter McKernan '93 who died of cardiac arrest in the winter of 1991, to help raise money for the scholarship fund named in his honor.
The $10 contribution per participant amounted to a $1090 donation to the scholarship fund. The scholarship is given annually to three Maine high school students attending Dartmouth.
Local businesses donated prizes for the top 15 finishers.
