Privacy Policy

Information Collection
TheDartmouth.com collects only two types of information from you when you visit this website. The first is the standard information that your browser provides to all websites you visit, including your internet IP address, the IP address of your service provider, the date and time of your visit and sometimes what type of browser you are using. TheDartmouth.com compiles anonymous usage statistics (i.e. to find out how many visitors we get per day) using this information. The Dartmouth Online cannot determine your actual identity through this information, nor would we if it was possible. Our individual access logs are not shared with any person or organization outside of The Dartmouth.

The second type of information we gather is information provided when you sign up for a web account on TheDartmouth.com. This information is kept strictly confidential and, again, is not shared with any person or organization whatsoever outside of The Dartmouth.

Cookies
When you log into your account, TheDartmouth.com places a cookie on your computer containing an ID number that identifies you to our website for the duration of your visit. Without this number, we would be unable to keep track of your login. This cookie does not store any of the personal information you provided, and TheDartmouth.com will use it only for the purpose of keeping you logged in while you visit our site.

The Dartmouth is not responsible for any information you provide to advertising companies by viewing or clicking on the advertisements that run on our pages.

Advertising in The Dartmouth provides an extraordinary opportunity to reach a remarkable readership base spread out across the globe. As America’s oldest college newspaper and the only independent, daily, student-run newspaper at Dartmouth College, The Dartmouth provides a gateway to a $75 million, 70,000 person market.

The Dartmouth publishes every morning, Monday through Friday, except during official Dartmouth College vacations and exam periods. The Dartmouth features its Sports Weekly every Monday, providing in-depth coverage of the latest sporting events on campus. On Friday, The Dartmouth features The Dartmouth Mirror, the weekly arts and entertainment magazine. During the summer term, The Dartmouth prints Tuesdays and Fridays.

The print edition of The Dartmouth remains the preeminent way to reach the student body, faculty, and staff of the College, as well as to the greater Hanover community. The Internet-based edition of The Dartmouth, TheDartmouth.com, provides an unparalleled point of access to the global network of alumni, parents, students off-campus, and readership from peer institutions.

Advertising Policy

The Dartmouth is published by The Dartmouth, Inc., an independent, non-profit corporation charted in the state of New Hampshire in 1939. All editorial and business decisions are made by students, without any interference from Dartmouth College. All advertisements are subject to the final approval of the Advertising Director and Publisher of The Dartmouth.

Tear sheets and billing statements are sent monthly; accounts are due at the end of the month in which the bill was received. Advertising will not be accepted from accounts with balances 30 days past due. Advertising rates are subject to change. Payment for political ads must be made at least two days in advance of publication, in compliance with federal law. Advertising canceled past noon on the day preceding publication will be removed from the issue, but the advertiser remains liable for full payment. The Dartmouth, Inc. assumes no liability for its failure to print an advertisement or for typographical and other errors in ad material. In the event of a printing error, The Dartmouth will reprint the ad at no cost; reimbursements are only issued in the event an ad becomes untimely. Errors must be reported no later than five days after publication. Placement for advertising on TheDartmouth.com is not guaranteed.

All terms, conditions, and rates contained in this Media Kit are incorporated by reference and made part of The Dartmouth Basic Advertising Contract. The advertiser and/or agency agrees to assume full and complete responsibility for the content of any advertisement placed in The Dartmouth. Advertising simulating editorial content must run with the words “Paid Advertisement” in 10-point or larger typeface.
