Shannon Prince ‘09 performs during the Women’s Fancy Shawl competition on Saturday. Participants in the competition – excluding the Dartmouth students, who were ineligible to win prizes – were judged on their technique as they danced with traditional shawls.

Dartmouth students, including Alvin Begay ‘12, kept the dancers well-fed with their cooking skills. Frybread is “the staple in a pow-wow diet,” according to Lindsay Borrows ‘10, who performed during the event.

Jiles Pourier ‘08 and Angelica Fuentes ‘11 compete in the Potato Dance Special on Saturday, an event in which two people balance a potato between their foreheads while dancing. Once the potato falls, the pair is out and the last pair with potatos still between their foreheads wins.

The Native Americans at Dartmouth honored College President James Wright his wife, Susan, on Saturday afternoon. The Wrights walk alongside Jiles Pourier ‘08 and Eliza Yellow Bird ‘09.

The Dartmouth student drum group, Occom Pond Singers, performs on Sunday in Thompson Arena. The event was moved to Thompson Arena due to the weather.

Pourier and Yellow Bird, the Head Man and Head Woman of the pow-wow, dance on Sunday afternoon in Thompson Arena.
