As busy Dartmouth students, we too often take for granted daily life at the College. When’s the last time you stopped to notice who raises the flag each morning or how the chocolate chip scones appear without fail every Friday in Collis?

Throughout the day — every day — Dartmouth’s faithful and hardworking employees are making our lives a little easier, whether they are students or FO&M staff.

This week, The Mirror caught up with staff members across campus to see what working for the College is like. Interestingly enough, the individuals like Dartmouth for many of the same reasons students do, particularly the sense of family on campus. While some worry about the College becoming more like a company and less like “the College on the Hill,” those we talked to value the friendships and close-knit community that Dartmouth has given them.

So next time you are picking up a package or buying some fro-yo, ask a Dartmouth employee how their day is going, because without them, chances are your day wouldn’t be as good.
