Ski team captains recite a poem during Winter Carnival Opening Ceremonies. The team went on to its third consecutive carnival victory later that weekend, its strongest win of the season.

Above-freezing temperatures caused puddles of slush to form across the Green, reflecting the faces of the ski team captains as they participated in Carnival’s official opening ceremonies.

Students hike up the golf course to compete in the annual Carni Classic. Ski races have been a part of Winter Carnival since its inception in 1910.

A substantial amount of the snow on the Green had melted by Thursday afternoon, but that didn’t stop the human dogsled race, a tradition in which three students pull a fourth around the Green on a sled.

The Brovertones, formerly known as Final Cut, perform at the Winter Wingding, a concert held on Friday. Other performances over Carnival weekend included a Barbary Coast concert and a staging of the Vagina Monologues.

The sculpture was originally intended to depict Moosilauke Ravine Lodge. Supported by scaffolding, and constructed over more than two weeks, it was nearly complete before collapsing due to warm weather.

After the snow sculpture’s south wall collapsed on Wednesday, the College’s Risk Management team deemed the remaining walls unsafe, and the entire structure was bulldozed.

Students worked around the clock for two days to complete the newly designed sculpture of Moosilauke Mountain after the interactive replica of the Lodge was destroyed.

Following the original design’s collapse, students gathered late Wednesday evening to refashion the remains into a replica of Mount Moosiauke.
