Search comm. reacts to student concerns

In response to student concerns that the presidential search committee's leadership statement does not fully represent undergraduate needs, Student Body President Molly Bode '09, the only student representative on the committee, said the Student Assembly will create a Visions Report Statement, which will focus on qualifications students wish to see in the College's next president. Student have expressed concern that the statement, released Oct. 1, lacks a sufficient emphasis on student life outside of the classroom. More »

Drive registers Dartmouth voters

Vote Clamantis, a nonpartisan political awareness group, hosted a voter registration drive in Collis Common Ground on Wednesday to facilitate student participation in "one of the greatest elections of our time" by making the voter registration process as painless as possible, Jessica Guthrie '10, the organization's president, said. New Hampshire is widely considered to be a battleground state in this year's elections, and many students have opted to vote here instead of in their home states. More »

Whitehouse praises Obama health plan

If elected, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama will move quickly to reform the American health care system, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I. told a group of almost 50 Dartmouth Medical School students and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center employees Wednesday afternoon in the Rockefeller Center. Panhell to establish new selection system for rush

Dartmouth's Panhellenic Council will implement its new rush selection system -- Select and Rank -- for the second time this fall. The program, introduced during women's rush last winter, will replace the priority system as the new chapter ranking method for this fall's sorority rush, which begins Thursday. Under the new system, potential new members will select their top four organizations and rank only the remaining three -- in the past, participants ranked each of the seven Panhellenic sororities to indicate their top choices.
