Amber Alert issued in Vt. for girl allegedly heading to DHMC

Vermont officials issued the state’s first Amber Alert on Thursday, following the disappearance of Brooke Bennett, a 12-year-old resident of Braintree, Vt. Bennett was last seen after her uncle dropped her off at the Cumberland Farms convenience store in Randolph, Vt. on the morning of June 25. She was reported to be wearing jeans, a pink sweater and white sneakers, according to a Vermont State Police press release. More »

Lawsuit against College dismissed

The Grafton County Superior Court has approved the dismissal of the Association of Alumni’s lawsuit against the College, Association President John Mathias ‘69 confirmed today. This action brings to an end the eight-month legal saga in which the Association attempted to bar the College’s Board of Trustees from adding eight members not elected by alumni to its membership. AoA moves to end its lawsuit officially

The Association of Alumni officially moved to end its lawsuit against the Dartmouth Board of Trustees early this week, joining with the College to file a “stipulation of dismissal” with the Grafton County Superior Court. It has become increasingly clear, however, that alumni are actively considering the possibility of continuing the legal effort, according to interviews with leaders in the alumni community. More »

Fuel costs hurt College investments

Dartmouth is expected to pay an additional $1.8 million in energy costs this fiscal year due to rising oil prices, according to the College’s Facilities, Operations and Management office. Fuel will cost Dartmouth an average of $75 a barrel, up from last year’s average of $54.50, according to FO&M associate vice president John Gratiot. More »

Dick’s House limits summer hours

Going to Dick’s House is not an option for students seeking immediate medical attention on the weekend or after 4 p.m. on weekdays during the summer months, meaning that a trip to the emergency room at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is the only recourse. While for the intoxicated and underage this could result in legal trouble, health officials stressed that students should never hesitate to call for help. More »
