Anti-suit ‘Unity’ slate sweeps ex. com. seats

In a fatal blow to the Association of Alumni’s lawsuit against the College, candidates critical of the suit swept all 11 of the Association’s executive committee seats in the organization’s annual election, according to results released June 10. The Association has since ended its engagement with the Washington, D.C.-based law firm Williams and Connolly, which represented the organization in the suit. More »

14 named to pres. search committee

The 14 members of the search committee to replace College President James Wright, announced on Wednesday, include six members of the College’s Board of Trustees, six faculty members, one alumni representative and one current Dartmouth student. The committee is marked by the inclusion of one strong partisan from both sides of the Association of Alumni’s soon-to-be-withdrawn lawsuit against the College. More »

Haldeman to resign as Putnam CEO

Dartmouth Board of Trustees Chairman Ed Haldeman ‘70 will vacate his position as chief executive officer and president of Putnam Investments on June 30 and will take on a new role as chairman of Putnam’s mutual fund unit, according to a statement released by Putnam last week. Plans for Haldeman to step down began in fall 2006 when the Power Financial Corporation began negotiations to acquire Putnam. More »

Shedd ‘11 indicted on sexual assault charges

A New Hampshire grand jury indicted Daniel Shedd ‘11 on Friday with four counts of aggravated sexual assault stemming from an incident at the College in October involving a non-Dartmouth student. Shedd, a Maine resident, is currently free on a $50,000 bond, according to an article on a Maine community news web site. More »
