The 14 members of the search committee to replace College President James Wright, who will leave the College in June 2009, were made public today. The committee, whose composition mirrors that of the group which selected Wright as the College’s 16th president in 1998, is comprised of six members of the College’s Board of Trustees, six faculty members, one alumni representative and one current Dartmouth student.

The Dartmouth Board of Trustees has voted to “freeze” its membership until the Association of Alumni’s lawsuit against the College has been resolved. The decision, made Friday during the Board’s annual Spring term meeting, follows the conclusion of online voting in the Association elections.

For the first time in Dartmouth’s history, three members of the graduating class have been named valedictorians, as they all maintained 4.0 grade point averages throughout their College careers. Nicholas Christman ‘08, Jean Ellen Cowgill ‘08 and Margaret Fitchet ‘08 are this year’s valedictorians, although only Christman and Cowgill will speak at Commencement.

When asked to summarize his time at the Tuck School of Business, Yvan Baker Tu’08, president of Tuck’s graduating class, said, “the experience has been wonderful.” Baker participated in Tuck’s Investiture ceremony, which was held on Saturday along with the ceremonies of the Thayer School of Engineering and Dartmouth Medical School. Separate from the College’s Commencement ceremony, the Investiture ceremonies are exclusive to each graduate school.
