Young ‘08 headlines All-Ivy baseball selections

Seven Dartmouth baseball players received All-Ivy honors on Friday afternoon. Russell Young ‘08 was named pitcher of the year and joined Damon Wright ‘08, Erik Bell ‘08, Michael Pagliarulo ‘09 and Nick Santomauro ‘10 on the All-Ivy first team. Dartmouth cyclers claim second place at nationals

The Dartmouth cycling team competed in the U.S. collegiate cycling championships in Fort Collins, Colo., this past week. The Big Green finished second out of 33 teams, due in part to impressive performances from Dartmouth’s women’s cyclers. The team from Massachusetts Institute of Technology won the overall team title. For over a year, Schmidley and I have debated some of the most pressing matters in sports. Now, with our careers coming to an end and with all of campus in need of closure, we are embarking upon one final debate to crown the unofficial victor. After countless columns, temporary demotions, multiple editors and the occasional hatemail, Schmidley and I feel confident that we can take a stroll down memory lane and parse out our finer moments.Some debates, such as the classic Federer vs. Woods of last spring or Homecoming’s Bonfire vs. Football, may never be settled. Toe to Toe: Hodes Vs. Schmidley (Schmidley)

Today’s column marks the end of our “Toe to Toe” tenure. I am a bit too lazy to count how many rounds my colleague and I have had in the ring during our year-long term, but one number I am quite certain I am in the ballpark of figuring out is the figure I like to call “less than or equal to five,” which represents the number of wins Hodes collected since we started last Spring term.
