Faculty offer input on search for president

Dartmouth faculty members offered input on the presidential search process to Dartmouth Board of Trustees Chairman Ed Haldeman ‘70 and trustee Al Mulley ‘70, the chair of the search committee, in an open forum on Friday. The trustees held similar forums for students, staff and alumni on March 14 and 15. The Board and the search committee will use the input to help create a “leadership statement” and to make the search process more transparent, Haldeman said. More »

Tuck speakers extol Indian workforce

India’s large and young workforce is its “biggest asset,” according to experts that spoke at the second annual Tuck India Business Conference, held at the Tuck School of Business on Friday. The event, which featured two keynote speakers, a book signing, live music and two panel discussions, brought students, staff and a diverse group of business professionals together to discuss the economic opportunities created by India’s new-found financial strength. Beta alumni meet for last time with male students

Dartmouth alumni of Beta Theta Pi fraternity addressed questions from male students, including men who are currently members of other fraternities, and a few undergraduate women at the final information session concerning Beta’s return to campus, held on Friday afternoon. Students’ concerns focused on membership diversity, alcohol policies and the Dartmouth chapter’s relationship with Beta national fraternity. More »

Forum examines substance abuse

Michael Hanitchak ‘73 opened Dartmouth’s fourth annual symposium on substance abuse on Friday with a Native American blessing, asking the Creator for guidance in reconciling two gifts bestowed upon humanity — tobacco, which Hanitchak said “we sometimes use unwisely,” and the power to “heal our brothers and sisters who have become unbalanced.” More »

Falling in Love with the Green Again

Well, my friends, it’s back. The Green has returned. We’ve stomped across the snow and slush for two terms now. For months, the large expanse in the middle of campus represented merely a faster, albeit icier and muddier path from the Hop to Baker. Do I walk straight across and put the water resistance/traction of my boots to the test? Or do I slip into my 10A five minutes late? These were the only questions in which that rectangular tract of land was concerned. More »
