Students rely on Public wireless

A few weeks after the deactivation of Kiewit Wireless on Feb. 5, almost half of Dartmouth students have yet to configure their computers for the new Dartmouth Secure network, according to data provided by Frank Archambeault, director of Network Services. Dartmouth students were asked at the beginning of the Winter term to switch from Kiewit to Dartmouth Secure or stay on Dartmouth Public and cope with its many disadvantages. More »

Hostel offers housing, aid to DHMC patients

Burlington, Vt. resident Greg Giro's spends most of his time in Hanover frequenting performances at the Hopkins Center, listening to public lectures at the College and eating dinner at Molly's restaurant. His visits, however, are punctuated by treatment at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in December 2003. The Upper Valley Hostel, located on South Street, allows Giro to avoid the commute and to attend event's at Dartmouth. More »

Award for excellence presented to DHMC

Recognized for its excellence in treatment and health care for various forms of adult cancer, the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center received the Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies' Blue Distinction earlier this month. DHMC is one of three medical treatment facilities to win the award in the Complex and Rare Cancers category, a field recognized by the award for the first time this year. More »

Limited vegetarian, vegan options frustrate students

No matter how carefully vegan and vegetarian students navigate their food options, there is always a chance that a stray shred of chicken infiltrates a plate of tofu stir-fry from Collis Cafe, according to Amanda Sheehan, Collis Late Night supervisor. Although Dartmouth Dining Services tries to be transparent with the process of cooking and labelling food, Sheehan said mistakes happen in the rush of preparation. More »
