“Are your friends making you fat?” demanded headlines displayed on a number of media networks this July in response to a study published by Nicholas Christakis, a professor at Harvard University, and James Fowler, a professor at the University of California, San Diego. Christakis spoke about the study’s conclusion, that the fluctuations of a person’s weight affect the weight of people in one’s social network, in a lecture at the Rockefeller Center on Thursday night.

Hanover police responded to a man who reported a theft from the Alumni Gymnasium faculty locker room on Jan. 31 between 6 and 8 a.m. The victim told police that when he returned to the locker room, he had discovered that his locker had been broken into. He claimed his credit cards, license and a small amount of cash had been removed. Upon contacting the credit card companies, the victim learned that his cards had already been used to purchase a $2,778 computer system at Systems Plus in either Hanover or Lebanon. Two purchases totalling $1,401 were then attempted at a Target and a Wal-Mart in Massachusetts. To date, the suspect or suspects have yet to be apprehended
