Despite concerns that its renovation would not be completed by the announced Jan. 5 move-in date, Hitchcock Hall should be ready for student residence this winter, according to Dean of Residential Life Marty Redman. Hitchcock, which has been under construction since its fall 2006 closure, is expected to house 86 students. Redman said he is “99.9 percent sure” the hall will be finished on time.

Seven senior men spoke about their personal life experiences and what it meant to be a “man of Dartmouth” to hundreds of rapt Dartmouth students crowded into Collis Common Ground Wednesday evening at the first-ever “Men of Dartmouth” panel. The panel, marked by strong emotions and punctuated by several standing ovations, explored topics ranging from sexuality and depression to socioeconomic status and race.

Students who upgrade their computers to Mac OS X Leopard, the latest version of the Mac operating system, are presently unable to use GreenPrint or eTokens, as the current versions of both programs are incompatible with Leopard. New versions of GreenPrint and the eToken software are in development, according to David Bucciero, director of Technical Services.

Cancer patients from rural areas are diagnosed with cancer earlier than those from urban areas, two Dartmouth Medical School professors discovered. Professors of surgery Sam Finlayson and Ian Paquette helped disprove a long-held belief that rural patients wait longer to report their illness to a doctor.
