New Hampshire will hold its 2008 primary on Jan. 8, earlier than in any previous election cycle, the state announced on Nov. 21. The College, the campaigns and the nation may have difficulty adjusting to the accelerated pace of politics, according to many politically active Dartmouth students and professors.

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio and five other speakers advocated the impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney at a presentation in Filene Auditorium on Monday night. The presentation, called a "teach-in," featured a panel of speakers and drew a crowd made up largely of New England residents, as well as a few Dartmouth students who support Kucinich's candidacy.

Actress Victoria Rowell, best known for her role on "The Young and The Restless," spoke about her support for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and answered students' questions on Monday night at an event hosted by the Dartmouth chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The Emmy-nominated actress and longtime children's advocate focused on health care, the foster care system and education, as well as the reasons for which she supports Clinton.

While students spending a term away from Hanover may be at a coveted internship with Goldman Sachs or may be at home for some much-needed rest, many are among the 60.9 percent of Dartmouth students who spend at least one term studying abroad through an off-campus or transfer credit program, according to the Institute of International Education. Dartmouth placed third in the Institute's national ranking of undergraduate study abroad participation among research institutions granting doctoral degrees, climbing seven spots from the 2006 report. Dartmouth was the top school in the Ivy League.

Hanover Police was called to Chi Gamma Epsilon Fraternity after Safety and Security observed an under-aged male drinking something out of a silver flask. The 19-year-old, a student at Princeton, told police that the liquid in the flask was Jack Daniels. However, he refused to take a breathalizer test. According to the student, he was at Dartmouth because he was with the Princeton pep band. He was arrested.
