Big Green football wraps up season with loss to Princeton

Men’s basketball falls to James Madison in home opener

For the first 14 minutes of Sunday’s home opener versus James Madison University (2-0), the Dartmouth men’s basketball team was locked in a tense struggle with the Dukes of James Madison, a team Dartmouth upended, 74-70, last year. However, the Big Green allowed the Dukes to go on a 13-4 scoring run to close the first half and eventually fell, 72-57. More »

Big Green women’s basketball falls to Maine and Marist

The young Dartmouth women’s basketball team experienced some growing pains in their non-conference slate this past week, falling to perennial America East power the University of Maine 53-67 and dropping its home opener to a Sweet Sixteen team from last year’s tournament, Marist, 35-71. More »

A few weeks ago, Schmidley and I debated sports’s greatest heroes. Just this past week, perhaps the greatest anti-hero of all-time was indicted for allegedly lying to a federal grand jury during the BALCO investigation four years ago. Toe to Toe: Hodes versus Schmidley

Last Thursday, Barry Bonds was indicted by the federal government on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice. Baseball’s new home run king could face up to 30 years in prison if found guilty on all counts. Bonds’s legal woes got Hodes and I thinking about another athlete whose career has been lessened by “tragedy” — Ken Griffey, Jr. Hodes gladly acquiesced to argue that Griffey has had the more “tragic” career, a fact I will now refute. Athletes of the Week

Craig Henderson ‘09 Soccer Henderson notched Dartmouth’s lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Princeton in the season finale. The New Zealand native capitalized on a rebound in front of the Princeton goal in the 30th minute. It was Henderson’s team-leading sixth goal of the season and his 16th point overall. The Big Green finishes the season at 5-10, 3-4 Ivy. More »
