Wright honored at Boston gala

BOSTON — College President James Wright was presented with a New Englander of the Year award Monday evening by the New England Council, a regional alliance of business, academic and health institutions. Student EMTs to go on call every weekend

Next time you find yourself passed out on the president’s lawn, you may be surprised to receive on-the-spot medical treatment from one of your classmates. Starting this fall, Dartmouth Emergency Medical Services will be on call 48 hours a week, from 7 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Sunday, responding to all medical calls phoned in to Safety and Security. Career fair makes for networking mecca

Tuesday and Wednesday will see the Top of the Hop transformed into a bustling center for schmoozing as 100 private corporations, nonprofits and government employers set up shop for Career Services’ annual Employer Connection Fair. Unconventional candidate stumps on Main Hanover

He wears a black suit and a fedora. From his waist hangs a noose, knotted five times. He carries a wooden cross and you’ll often find him at the corner Wheelock and Main. This man is Manchester resident Robert Haines, and he is running for president of the United States. More »

Hop replaces “Friends” program

The Hopkins Center has established two new membership programs intended to finance student activities and potentially bring more performers to the center. The programs, introduced in July, replace the 40-year-old Friends of the Hopkins Center and Hood Museum program. The split allowed each group’s members to focus on the center’s mission statement, to “ignite and sustain a passion for the arts in the community,” said Lisa Vallejo-Sorensen, the Hop’s publicist and media relations coordinator.
