Hood exhibit boasts big names, Dartmouth folklore

In 1936, when Jackson Pollack was 24 years old, he took a road trip with his buddy Phillip Guston from New York City to Hanover. Before these boys became two of the biggest names in the history of American painting, they made a pit stop at our own small college. It is rumored that one night, on the epic walk from Webster Avenue to Alpha Delta, they stopped at Baker Library to view Jose Clemente Orozco’s murals, “The Epic of American Civilization.” More »

Student demo shows ‘mocap’ animation in action

As a Montgomery Fellow in residence, Merce Cunningham’s responsibilities are to participate in or inspire activities and events related to his craft. At least nine different engagements are planned for “The Art of Merce: Dartmouth Celebrates an Iconoclast,” along with the performance of Cunningham’s dance company this weekend. More »
