Merkel resigns as sustainability head

Many upperclassmen attending the sustainable cookout following convocation Tuesday may have noticed the absence of the man who has been the face of Dartmouth sustainability for the past two years: Jim Merkel. Merkel left his position as sustainability coordinator in early August to pursue other sustainability endeavors, including consulting on other college campuses, giving public presentations and working with non-profit organizations. Nine face charges in cheating scam

Prison may be the new detention hall for nine Hanover High School seniors facing criminal charges after they allegedly stole final exams in June. Last week, the local prosecutor offered a letter of immunity to the students that would have allowed them to cooperate with the school without judicial consequence, but the letter was rejected by several of the students’ lawyers. College to release new Blitz for Macs

Computing Services plans to roll out a new version of BlitzMail for Mac computers, an update that will feature encrypted messaging for the first time, but most students won’t notice the behind-the-scenes changes. Developed in May 2006 by computer science doctoral candidate Chris Masone ‘02, the software should be available in late 2007. More »

After 6 years, an historic DOC cabin returns near campus

The recently rebuilt Harris Cabin on Moose Mountain will see its official inauguration Saturday, Oct. 13, in a ceremony that will allow students, alumni and other volunteers who restored the cabin time to marvel at the fruits of their labor. More »
