Stardust unexpectedly shines
A man named Dunstan Thorn (Ben Barnes) takes a wrong turn somewhere and wanders, as one tends to do, into a magical fantasy kingdom beyond his wildest dreams. There, among other exoticisms, he meets a fetching young girl (Kate Magowan) who bats her eyes, beckons him into her private carriage and closes the door. I can’t be certain of what happens next (this being a family film, the camera zooms away at the faintest hint of carnality), but whatever those two do in there, nine months later a babe in a basket appears on Dunstan’s doorstep.
